Awestruck
In 2018 this composite image from Gaia of the milky way was the highest resolution known to man depicting 1.7B stars. Recently Euclid gave us a 6 - gigapixel image of the bright spot of light at the centre
This detail had never before been witnessed by the human eye. The astronomers were dumbstruck.
Awe is a complex emotion combining reverence, wonder, and often a slight sense of fear or intimidation that occurs when we experience or witness something wondrous, vast, terrifying, inspiring, amazing, or mind-blowing.
Awe is the feeling of being in the presence of something vast that transcends your current understanding of the world. - Dacher Keltner
Oftentimes after a gong bath my clients are unable to express how they feel. One described it as 'I have never felt this way before so I don't have the words to express it'. - anon Now I know why.
The Universe is saying: Allow me to flow through you unrestricted, and you will see the greatest magic you have ever seen. - Klaus Joehle
Dacher Keltner explains that awe is embedded in our DNA and can literally stop you in your tracks. It induces physical effects such as tears, warmth in your heart or a shiver down your spine and when you are in this state the default mode network allows you to let go into the stillness of your mind. You are bathed in a state of sanctity where elation and euphoria crescendo into a peak experience or transcendence.
He explains further that this state heightens curiosity and creativity. You are more likely to move forward with new ideas, with purpose and a sense of possibility. Also awe alters you mind from self centeredness to community-centric making you more generous, tender, empathetic and hopeful. FINALLY I understand. This is why you feel the expansiveness of the universe during a gong bath, this is why you feel at 'one' with all, this is why we feel profound peace, this is exactly why we need more gongs!
