I have just returned from my workshop on the physics of sound. It was clear on the first day that science gathers knowledge faster than society gathers wisdom. Isaac Asimov and that the workshop was the tip of the proverbial iceberg. We sifted the wheat from the chafe for there are in fact two things, science and opinion, the former begets knowledge and the later ignorance. Hippocrates and in these esoteric fields it is hard to delineate the two. Keeping an open learner mind, being prepared to question that which I have thought as 'true' and to let go of beliefs was challenging. In my work the improvement of understanding is of two ends - first, our own increase of knowledge, secondly to deliver that knowledge to others. John Locke.
