I never cease to be surprised at the number of adults who did not fulfil their childhood dreams. At some point they were deemed not practical or realistic and in the end compromise won and they chose a more acceptable and conventional path. For inspiration about living your dreams take a look at Dr. Randy Pausch's Last Lecture on Oprah. (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wn9L4CxAaQY)
It is not easy to pursue your authentic self. It can be lonely, you may not have a clear direction and those around you will question, 'Why?' or 'Is it worth it?. You will certainly be full of your own doubts and fears however the transition into a life that truly embodies your fundamental Self and all that you value is unique and one of a kind. I came across this post highlighting 15 feelings that one experiences as one pursues their true path.
http://upliftconnect.com/15-difficult-feelings/ For me and my journey with Red Doors Studio it felt like someone was reading my mind. It takes courage, determination, a 'knowingness' that you are on the right path, trust that the universe will guide you, a never ending belief that you will succeed even if the destination is not clear, an ability to learn and to keep moving forward despite setbacks and a phenomenal amount of energy. I am asked regularly if it is worth it. What they don't realise is that this is not work.
Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi describes it in his book, Flow. Everything I do is aligned with my higher purpose and it energises rather than depletes. Yes, even when I am cleaning the toilets and mopping the floors at 1030 at night. Moving to mantras I derive immense satisfaction in ensuring the studio is clean and welcoming at all times. When I have made a difference in the life of a single client is it all worth it.
We have a number of tools this month to uplift and help you to gain clarity, inspiration and courage to take the road less travelled. This doesn't mean quitting your day job or a relationship, rather, to take a look at what you are doing now, is it congruent with the true you and how and what you can you may add or change in your life so that it rings true. It all boils down to conscious choices based on self awareness and in my career consulting work I help teens, individuals and teams make better choices.
Rather than highlighting all the upcoming events here, I am adding a bit more description below and will post the event descriptions on the red doors facebook page by the weekend.
Briefly, we have Tony Christie and his wife visiting from Ireland, both master labyrinth builders and facilitators; gong workshops and an all night puja; additional evening gongs, sacred garden lessons; Anne Huxatable and sound healing; Jaz Goven and Fast Track and my upcoming participation in IRIS in Central at the end of June.
Next week is Mental Health Week and I will share more about labyrinths and simple tools for regaining your centre, until then.
