My school career test had me down to be an architect - the same result as several of my friends and that's not my scene! Red Doors opened up my mind and gave me the inspiration to look at jobs I hand't even considered before. It has given me a light at the end of the tunnel and a direction to follow - without it I would still be in the dark as far as any possible careers are concerned.
His parents say: Red Doors fills a void in the current school curriculum where careers advice and guidance is lacking. They provide a superb start and a structured process for a teenager to commence thinking about and looking for life goals and ultimately a career. We thought it was worth every penny because it helped to focus our son's mind in a structured way. By leading him through a series of self analyses and guiding his choices he was able to determine his own character type and from there narrow down his potential career paths to areas where he felt comfortable and has strong interests. Martha Collard has a wealth of experience in Human Resources and her extensive knowledge of career options coupled with her many contacts in the region where expert information can be sought makes her stand out as a specialist in this field. She provides practical, relevant and current advice delivered in a way that young people can identify with. Which is why we highly recommend Martha and Red Doors to any other parents that are seeking to support their children in making a career choice.

I greatly enjoyed this course, it gave my a significant amount of insight into myself. Also through activities and reliable tests they helped me understand my personality and what career I would be suitable for and would enjoy. I believe that this course helped me a lot as now I am more certain about my future, I would certainly recommend this course for any one who wants to understand more about themselves and are uncertain about their future career. I truly enjoyed the sessions I spent with the group.

My Time at Red Doors
During March and into April I joined a course for finding our potential careers with a company called Red Doors which is ran by Martha Collard and Susan Kleinschmidt. I went into this program not really knowing what it was about but interested as I always am to try something new that doesn’t involve food. Anyways on the first day I remember being quite excited because again I didn’t know what this course was about, and when I found out it was about finding potential careers I thought this was going to be easy. This is considering that for a while now I have wanted to become a lawyer and to study in Canada.
Although, I thought wrong as it were it was a lot more difficult than I thought it would be not so much finding out what I wanted to do cause I already know that, but why and what skills I have to achieve that. We went through a series of tests the most famous one being the Myers-Briggs type indicator which I thought was very useful to me and I’m sure the other participants found it just as useful. In addition to that I felt that all the tests were useful as they all had a different twist to one another, for example one was checking personality types, one was checking what you liked and disliked, one was checking what values you hold the highest and so on. Moreover Martha and Susan were a great help as I really had no idea of how to start or do these “tests” as one would call it.
As we were doing these tests previously we were given a sheet that ironically acted as “Red Doors”. Which I gradually filled in with the results from the test, after that I opened the Red Doors sheet as the results were on the front. In the centre of the booklet there was a 9 by 9 grid in which the centre of each section we would fill out a job or value and around it we would put the results of the tests to justify our careers or values.
By the end of the course I felt very proud that I had finished by also very lucky that there is a course like this that Martha and Susan offer as I think it was very helpful. As I found out from doing this course I have come to a conclusion that I want to do law because I like to debate and argue, but also the additions that come along side that such as a family or balance needs to be taken into consideration and I think that this course helped me achieve a solid plan on what I will do in my future.
